Eunan Jones nominated for new trustee position

We are excited to introduce Eunan Jones as a new nominated trustee at the Pelican Centre.

Entirely volunteer-led, the Pelican Centre's board of trustees benefits from the expertise of people in our local community to drive the Centre forward and to achieve our charitable objectives.

From setting the long-term strategic plans of the Centre, to assisting with grant applications for funding, our trustees ensure that the Centre remains a vital asset within our community through providing financial oversight, vital governance and strategic direction.

Nominated trustee: Eunan Jones

The Pelican Centre is delighted to introduce Eunan Jones as a new nominated trustee.

Eunan already plays an important role in our community as a volunteer manager of Tyldesley Allotments Association, a local farming and gardening site which provides plots for members of the community to grow their own food, as well as a hub for hosting various social enterprises.

One of the social enterprises operating in Tyldesley Allotments Association, Grow for Giving, was also co-founded by Eunan back in 2013, which is a community project providing day care for people who have dementia or a mental illness, a local food bank and offers work experience programmes, among other services to support different members of our community.

Eunan says:

“To be recommended as a potential trustee of the Pelican Centre is a genuine honour.

As a long-time Pelican Centre member & gym goer, I appreciate how vibrant, well attended & important the Centre is to so many people.

Being a volunteer manager of Tyldesley Allotments Association & co-founder of Grow for Giving, I believe I can contribute passion, commitment & understanding of how crucial these resources are to our town.”

Volunteering at the Pelican Centre

From a receptionist giving a warm welcome to members, to trustees raising funds to improve our facilities and services, volunteering at the Pelican Centre stretches far beyond personal fulfilment - it helps to improve the lives of members in our community.

Through donating valuable time and skills, our volunteers help to keep the Pelican Centre’s prices affordable for our members, which keeps fitness, friendship and charitable support accessible throughout our community.

We wouldn’t be Wigan Borough’s largest independent charitable leisure facility without the support of our volunteers. Thank you!
