Feel great every day with our Feel Good 5

Feel Good every day, in every way, with the Feel Good 5

Great health and wellbeing isn't just about a tough gym workout or a long swim.

There are lots of things we can each do every day to help improve our overall physical, mental and social health, building a stronger local community in every way.

The Pelican Centre's Feel Good 5 encourages you to do 5 simple things every day, making things that help you to feel happier and healthier a part of your daily routine.

Move, Walk, Drink, Read, Talk

Get your Feel Good 5 done daily!

Feel Good every day by ticking off your Feel Good 5:

  1. Move a little every day.
Try a new class at the Pelican Centre, jump into the Pool for a swim, or pop into the Gym to try a new Gym Training Programme, increasing your heart rate to stay active and strong.

  2. Walk at least 5000 steps a day.
The more the better, but set yourself a realistic goal that you can achieve as part of your daily routine. A quick walk at lunchtime, walking to the Pelican, or even a supermarket visit soon gets your steps up!

  3. Drink 6-8 cups or glasses a day.
Water, tea, coffee, sugar-free drinks and lower-fat milk are all great, but limit fruit juices and smoothies which can be higher in sugar. Plenty of drinks help your body and brain to function at their best.

  4. Read away from a screen every day.
Either on your own or with children, reading a chapter or two of a book, a magazine or the news each day takes your eyes away from a screen and sparks creative thinking. Need inspiration? Check out our Feel Good Reads book exchange!

  5. Talk to someone every day.
Chat to other members or staff at the Pelican, meet a friend or give someone a call to stay connected to your community. It doesn't need to be long, but regular conversations help us to beat loneliness.

Establishing these great habits now will, over time, give you a healthy body and brain, and a stronger connection to the people around you. We can't wait to hear how you're ticking off your Feel Good 5 every day. Let us know how you're getting on!
