The Pelican Centre is home to a number of local sports clubs and teams, hosting training sessions and tournaments that bring about their fantastic success.
Our pool became home to Tyldesley Swimming & Water Polo Club in 1960, following the closure of Tyldesley Union Street baths. TSWPC has been in existence since 1876 and the Club celebrated 140 years in 2016.
We also proudly host Wigan Canoe Group.
Founded in 1876, Tyldesley Swimming & Water Polo Club is one of the oldest and most established clubs in the UK. Most of TSWPC’s training takes place at the Pelican Centre in our 5-lane, 25m pool.
The Club coaches, trains and operates swim and water polo teams, with experienced coaches and staff, development squads and a Splashball programme that introduces 5-9 year olds to water polo in a fun way that increases water confidence and develops teamwork.
